Our downtown Raleigh office is where Kurtz & Blum handles criminal defense, DWI, and traffic matters. We are on the seventh floor of the Truist building on Fayetteville Street, a block from both courthouses where these cases are heard.

Please schedule before you visit
We meet with clients by appointment rather than on a walk-in basis. Scheduling ahead means the attorney handling your type of case is in the office when you arrive, and it gives us time to review anything you send in advance.
Parking
Call us at (919) 832-7700 about five minutes before you arrive and we will walk you into a parking spot. Parking under the Truist building is the easiest option, but the turn-in is genuinely hard to describe in writing — and both Google and Apple Maps give unclear directions to it. A one-minute phone call saves the hassle.
If you park under the Truist building, bring your SmartPark ticket up with you and we will validate it after your meeting.
Street parking is usually available nearby as well, and there are several other decks in the immediate area. Rates vary by deck and by time of day.
Getting into the building
There are two ways in:
- From South Salisbury Street — through the roundabout between the Truist building and the Sheraton.
- From Fayetteville Street — the main street-level entrance.
You do not normally need to check in with building security. Take the lower-level elevators and press 7. Our suite is 710.
If anything is confusing once you are on the block, call us — it is faster than guessing.
Accessibility
The building is accessible. If stairs or escalators are a problem, use the Fayetteville Street entrance, which is the most direct route to the lobby elevators and avoids the escalators entirely. Elevators are also available to reach the lobby level, so there is a step-free route either way.
If you would like us to meet you at the entrance, or you have specific access needs, tell us when you schedule and we will arrange it.
When you arrive
You will wait in our office waiting room, which has a coffee bar with coffee, tea, and cold drinks.
Attorneys at this office
Criminal, DWI, and traffic matters at this office are handled by Seth A. Blum, Colby Berry, and Will Shuford, supported by our full support staff.
Courthouse proximity
Both courthouses are about a block from our office:
- Wake County Justice Center — where criminal, DWI, and traffic cases are heard.
- Wake County Courthouse — where civil and family law matters are heard.
If you have a court date and a meeting with us on the same day, you can walk between the two.
What we handle from this office
- Criminal defense — felonies and misdemeanors, drug charges, violent crimes, sex offenses, white collar and federal matters, juvenile cases, and expunctions
- DWI and DUI defense — first and repeat offenses, DMV hearings, license issues, field sobriety and breath test challenges, and appeals
- Traffic offenses — speeding, stop sign and red light violations, revocations, CDL matters, and prayer for judgment
For family law matters, see our North Hills office.
